Go Back in Time with Time Tunnel Museum
The Time Tunnel Museum is located in Brinchang, it is a historical museum in Cameron Highlands. The first memorabilia museum in Malaysia which houses many items showcasing life before war here, which dating back to the 50s and 60s era. It is about 200 kilometers away from Kuala Lumpur.
Located at the basement of Kok Lim strawberry farm, right on the main road; Where Time Tunnel Museum was founded by a Cameron local, See Kok Shan in 2007. The museum has over thousand exhibits and collectibles that belong which he collected over many years of travel around Malaysia. Therefore, he decided to share his precious collection with everyone to exhibit the historical and cultural heritage.
Artefacts and Themes
All the artefacts are organized in an orderly fashion under various themed segments in the Time Tunnel Museum. A historical chronology of Cameron Highlands is on display, showing information of its discovery by William Cameron in 1885 till its development into a hill resort in the 1920s.
In the museum, you can see information and photos of the Orang Asli people. Who used to reside in Cameron Highlands before the foreigners arrived here. There are many old photos and posters of the Emergency period and how Cameron Highlands used to be in the 1950s.
There is also mention of famous people like Singapore’s first PM Lee Kuan Yew, how his younger years were spent here. The American silk trader, Jim Thompson, who went missing mysteriously from Cameron Highlands in 1967. A prominent musician named P. Ramlee and more.
Loving the olden days? There are also posters of old advertisements and all sorts of paraphernalia are exhibited like cigarette cases, drink bottles, toys etc. It will feel like you had be transported back into time with the setting of an old fashioned Chinese coffee shop, called ‘Kopitiam’, playing nostalgic music, a traditional pub and barber shop, a Peranakan dressing area and even a mobile noodle stand with all the ingredients and vessels.
