Thean Hou Temple Kuala Lumpur, is known to be one of the largest and most beautiful Chinese temples in KL. The Thean Hou Temple was built in dedication to Tian Hou(also called Mazu), who is the Chinese Goddess of the Sea, and is named after her.
Many devotees come here to pray to the Goddess of Mercy, Guan Yin. The temple has four levels. The prayer hall is located on the fourth level of Thean Hou Temple, it is where you can worship Guan Yin, Tian Hou and the Hainan Goddess of the waterfront, Shui Wei Sheng Niang. You can offer your prayers while being surrounded with a gorgeous view of KL city! The third floor comprises of the administrative and marriage registration offices. The second floor is a multipurpose hall where wedding dinners and other cultural events are organized and the first level of the temple has a food court and the souvenir shop.
The Thean Hou Temple depicts elements of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. Its architectural design infuses traditional elements of murals and ornate carvings as well as modern designs. The beautiful Pagoda roofs incorporating elements of dragons and phoenix looks even more outstanding at night! The entrance of the temple symbolises good fortune and prosperity.
