Experience the beautiful nature trails at the Southern Ridges
Enjoy the beautiful greeneries and peaceful hiking trials at Southern Ridges, away from the city’s hustle and bustle. The Southern Ridges is a long 10 km stretch, that connects the 5 parks: Telok Blangah Hill Park’, ‘Kent Ridge Park’ and ‘Mount Faber, Hort Park and Labrador Nature Reserve together. You can enjoy the diverse species of flora and fauna in their natural habitat.
Some of the highlights in Southern Ridges are the beautiful Henderson Waves, the Canopy Walk and the Forest Walk.
- The Henderson Waves is the main attraction here. A beautiful curved-like structure that forms a wave shape. This magnificent structure is Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge and you can enjoy beautiful sceneries of the garden city from up here. This bridge looks even more stunning at night when the LED lights come on. Catch the changing of the LED lights colour between 7pm and 2am everyday!
- The Canopy Walk allows hikers to experience a walk along the forested surrounding. At a height of 280m, the elevated 300m long boardwalk makes it easier for bird watchers to spot the large diversity of birds at eye level.
- Alexandra Arch and the Forest Walk is a 80m-long pedestrian bridge and an elevated 1.3km long steel pedestrian walkway, which takes you through the beautiful, serene forest canopy. As this walkway is raised from 3 meters to 18 meters, it brushes the top of the trees, so one gets to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the forest. After this walk, you can continue your hiking trail to the Telok Blangah Hill Park. The Alexandra Arch lights up from 7pm until 12am everyday, and you can definitely catch some stunning display during this time.
The beautiful Southern Ridges surely takes away the stress of the urban city as you can relax and enjoy the spectacular sceneries here, away from the urban noise pollution. With so much to offer for hikers, it is a nice place to workout! You can get here by taking to Harbourfront station(CC29, NE1) and head towards exit D, and it will be on your left.
