Night Safari Singapore – The world’s first nocturnal zoo
Night Safari Singapore was established in 1994, and it is the world’s first nocturnal zoo. It is home to more than two and a half thousand animals belonging to hundred and thirty different species, including many endangered species. It is one of the best night activities that you can indulge in Singapore.
You can experience up-close encounters with the nocturnal creatures, when you hop on the tram safari experience. The 40 minutes tram ride takes you on an exciting adventure, bringing you around to the different zones in the world, including the swamps of Equatorial Africa and foothills of the Himalayas. Keep a lookout for animals like the Asian elephants, Indian Rhinos and many other creatures along your tram ride. Listen closely to the voices of the tour guides who will tell you where to spot these animals.
One of the newest additions to the attractions in Night Safari, is the Wallaby trail. What you can see here is an open, walk-through area where you can observe the cute wallabies munching away right in front of you. There is also a cave where venomous creatures await you!
Next, embark on the Leopard Trail, it is one of the most popular trails in Night Safari with the biggest group of Southeast Asia animals. You can’t go to the Night Safari and not see the fierce predators at the top of the food chain, such as the Gir lion and the clouded leopards. Watch the charismatic lions relishing on their favourite meaty treats during their token feeding times.
Heat up your night with cultural treats like fire eating, blowpipe displays and tribal dances. Get ready to fire up with the performances and daring stunts displayed by these professional fire breathers. You can catch this exciting performance at the entrance courtyard, at 7pm, 8pm or 9pm, and for Fridays, Saturdays and eve of public holiday, there is another timeslot at 10pm.
Creatures of the Night is another must-see attraction in Night Safari. You will witness live performances and antics displayed by these talented animals, that are sure to surprise you with their natural gift. Make your way down to the Amphitheatre! Show times are at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm, and for Fridays, Saturdays and eve of public holiday, there is another timeslot at 10.30pm.
With so many exciting adventures awaiting you at Night Safari, what are you still waiting for? Hop on and this amazing journey and meet the creatures of the dark!
