Melaka Straits Mosque – Must visit mosque in Melaka

Melaka Straits Mosque is a true definition of beauty! It is also called ‘floating mosque’ because when the tide is high, the mosque will look like its floating on the sea! Melaka Straits Mosque offers a stunning view of the ocean! It looks even more gorgeous under the sunset and when it becomes illuminated! It is not surprising that some people would travel to Melaka just to see this mosque. Hence you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit this mosque when you are already in Melaka! Non-muslim tourists are also allowed inside the masjid as long as they are decently attired.

Built on the coast of the Strait, Melaka Straits Mosque was inaugurated in the 2006 by the Malaysian king. The mosque is an integration of both Middle Eastern and Malay architectural techniques-incorporating bamboo and teak wood as part of its construction and carving designs. A beautiful 30 metres high tower stands tall beside it, which functions as a lighthouse, guiding aeroplanes, ships and boats at night.

The main prayer room has a huge dome with blue coloured trims that can be seen from afar. The doorways of the mosque are designed with stained glass. The mosque also has a library, learning centre and a multi-purpose hall.

Melaka Straits Mosque is a perfect sight to take excellent photographs. You have to come here and witness the beauty of the mosque yourself!
