Built on the coast of the Strait, Melaka Straits Mosque was inaugurated in the 2006 by the Malaysian king. The mosque is an integration of both Middle Eastern and Malay architectural techniques-incorporating bamboo and teak wood as part of its construction and carving designs. A beautiful 30 metres high tower stands tall beside it, which functions as a lighthouse, guiding aeroplanes, ships and boats at night.
The main prayer room has a huge dome with blue coloured trims that can be seen from afar. The doorways of the mosque are designed with stained glass. The mosque also has a library, learning centre and a multi-purpose hall.
